This
report centered about two letters from our archive is dedicated to June
Elizabeth Stoutenburg(h)-Torkelson her husband (our Dad) George Gerald
Torkelson, and Wendy J Stoffers.
-
-
We
are writing it in, sometime fond, memory of our oldest brother Craig Edward Torkelson
(B1948 D1969).
-
If
it were not for finding a letter (circa 1988) that our dad wrote to us we
probably would never share the letter from our Most Significant Other (MSO)
Wendy J Stoffers (Circa 1975). Dad wrote
us his letter soon after we had been accepted to the University of California @
Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. As
always assessments are important for us while we process. If we find catharsis in completing this
report we may consider sharing more about our education and home life. Early on we concentrate this effort about our
father and his letter. Who are we? We “B” Mentalation Soluions Group (MSG). Because Wendy was so important to our
performance during high school we sprinkle early on a bit here and there with Wendy.

Awareness – Dad & Honor
Our dad really was not aware of
our school or extracurricular interests.
The area that he would have most been aware of was the depreciation of
our honor. When we were 14 or so (1973)
we earned our Eagle Scout Rank (ESR) in the Scouts of America AKA Boy Scouts of
America (BSA).

Interpretation
For us a loss of 1.0 unit of
Honor is substantial because we were made aware of these virtues. In earning our Eagle Rank we promised to
uphold our virtuosity to the best of our ability always. For Wendy a Virtue Score at or near 8.7 is
incredible because to the best of our knowledge she was not made conscious nor
asked to formally exercise her virtuosity.
-
Dad- Impending Doom
Earlier we mentioned that this
paper is in honor of Craig Edward Torkelson (B1947-D1969). Craig our oldest brother died at the top of
his game. During the last year of his
life he indicated he would help us sort things out. Once he was killed in a car accident December-1969 we began to
sense impending doom for ourselves.
“Doomism” drove us to stuff things.
As time passed we believed for certain we would die before age twenty
(20). We might describe this a Loss of
Hope
-
High School - High Performer
In 8th grade math we
discovered that we were going to have to study in order to compete. In ninth and tenth grade we were
consistently on the Honor Roll. In 10th
grade Geometry we earned class high with our only competition on campus being
Robert Perry in another Geometry section.
In small engines, oceanography, and marine biology we were also class
high. We excelled in World History –
Art – Architecture. We took notice of
Wendy in Burchfield’s Honors English Class (HEC). Mr. Hamilton (World History) asked us to enroll as his campus
service along with Cheryl Houwenstein.
Both Cheryl and us were Mr. Hamilton’s Media Managers. This was a huge
reward he offered for working hard. Dad
really didn’t know much about any of these things. He saw more of what was transpiring on “The Block”.

(**) – Francis Wickes Principle
Frances G. Wickes in her book The
Inner World of Childhood she makes one message clear. The most important element for a child’s normal development is
that behind the scenes the parents take care of their business. Which translates into: The parents might
best not bring the child in on adult level issues they may be facing. Our parents had some serious issues they
were not managing well. For example
around 1962 they had a baby girl. They
put baby girl up for adoption. Even our
mother’s sister (B1925) was not aware of this.
Then just last year (2017) we, the family, found out our parents had
another baby girl in 1967. These are
parent level affairs. They satisfied
keeping these affairs on their level yet did not manage them well. Our parents really didn’t manage issues with
Craig dying and Kevin acting poorly very well.
We thought for sure we could do better than Craig or Kevin did: We were
wrong!

FAQ – “Does a son bear any
responsibility for the sins of the father? Is it fair for God to punish one
generation for the sins of a previous generation?”
-
Sins of the Fathers
Growing up in our neighborhood
“The Block” we had a least two combat veterans: Mr. Roper – Artillery – Korea
and Mr. Torkelson – Battleship Pacific Theater World War II. Who are we to say both had Anger
Issues? Other patriarch’s [SPELLED]
such as Mr. Whedon who did not see and participate about acts of killing were
much less angry. For us the Sins of our
Fathers would be Anger. Remember the
warriors of WW2 are at times considered “The Greatest Generation”. We find it very hard to criticize dad the
one who made us real.
-
Crime of the Century
“Crime of the Century is the
third studio album by the English rock band Supertramp, released in September
1974 on A&M Records. Crime of the Century was Supertramp's commercial
breakthrough in both the US and UK.”
For our all Male contemporary cohort the Crime of the Century was
mal-planning mixed with lying. Our
older brothers passed down to us their policy: “Don’t tell dad or mom”. What a mess that created.

Impact of Losses
For us the greatest impact about
losing significant things is the lasting effect this had on our ability to rest
and sleep. Our response to losing
something is to a attempt a Recovery.
Recovery more often that not required we step up our efforts. Eventually, on and off we were putting in 20
hour days. Now we have an intractable
[SPELLED] sleep disorder. We have and
will address sleep elsewhere.
-
Things Greater Than Us (TGTU) -
Craig Edward Torkelson
Wendy didn’t know that I would
rather give something dear to me away rather than lose it. We, meaning the family and Craig’s Network,
lost Craig at the peak of his game on December 13, 1969. To this day I still “Bargain” for and about
my oldest brother Craig. Whereas I have
be able to successfully “Grieve” George (father D1999) and June (mother D1998)
we seem to be stuck in “Bargaining” about Craig. Whether we will ever see him again in heaven is indeterminate
(AVEY, 2018).
-
Moving On to Global Impact -
World Impact
Previously we inserted a scan of
a letter that our father George Gerald Torkelson wrote for us in 1988. In 1988 we had recently been accepted to the
University of California @ Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Dad’s letter
was written early in one of the most critical months (1988-September) in our
lifetime. In the letter dad indicates
that he believed we could have global impact.
Earlier while doing our graduate work a professor, Dr. C Schwabe,
indicated that we promise to him that we would act locally while thinking
globally. Before the world wide web and
the Internet to think such would be construed as grandiose. We have about five (5) blogs. We began publishing in ernst in 2013. Below are the stats for the week of May 20,
2018 to May 27, 2018. The map and
numbers indicate that for that week we had a slight global readership
(Pageviews). It is rare that we have
any viewers south of the Equator.
-
Blogging – Global Impact - Non Local Impact
For our primary Blog – AnimaCules on May 27, 2018 we had
gathered in all-time history 70,766 pageviews.
Please make note that we know very little about marketing and selling
our Blog. We are looking into a course
or workshop to address this shortfall.

Food Animal Gigs
We had three (3) major food
animal gigs in our career. During the
summer of 1986 we interned for doctor: Spell Check = Dr. Yan Ghazikhanian =
Galestan Yan Ghazikhanian (GYG). The
product we worked with was the Nicholas Broad Breasted White Turkey.

-
Turkeys
Considering we worked in “Yan’s”
lab rather than handling much in the product supply chain such as: Live breeder
turkeys or fertile eggs it is hard to link our work efforts to any substantial
global impact. We did work up six (6)
research turkeys for Dr. Yan. The
muscle tissue we handled special for it was product that is gifted to any
visitors USA and abroad that Yan deemed fit.
Let us get to Hogs our experience with the most potential for global
impact. In 1996 we tested for and was hired as a USDA slaughter inspector
(GS-3) specializing in red meat. Our
first assignment was for Farmer John in Vernon California. We inspected for wholesomeness some
6000-8000 carcases per day. To the best
of our knowing, Farmer John (Clougherty Packing) had a global distribution at
the time. We will leave our experience
with Beef out because everything would be a factor of ten (10) smaller that
with Hogs. Summing things up, if we
were to tell our dad about potential global impact we would include our United
States Department of Agriculture (USDA) adventure. One last note. In 1996
the USDA paid for and sent us to Red Meat School at Texas A&M in College
Station Texas. Our cohort of imported
students was about twenty (20) strong.
They hailed from the four (4) corners of the USA. After hearing a couple of days’ of our test
results some of our fellows retained us to tutor them.

Back to Davis – Agents Abroad
When we were working on our
Master’s Degree (MS – Pathology) about ½ dozen of the classes we enrolled in
brought us in close contact with foreign exchange type students. Most of them were enrolled in the Master’s
of Preventative Veterinary Medicine (MPVM) program. For some reason they did not have to pass the Test of English as
a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The TOEFL
Test of English as a Foreign Language® is a standardized test to measure the
English language ability of non-native speakers wishing to enroll in
English-speaking universities. We learn graphically. So even though we couldn’t communicate well in English we tutored
them with pictures. This did have
global impact because some of those that we tutored went back to home with
greater promise. Some of our foreign
associates had huge plans they were working on. One of our research partners, Max, had his sights set on
dominating the food pigeon (Squab) market back in Taiwan.

GGT: 20180603-SUN
1988 Letter Update
We here at MSG are not intending
to harm anyone through processing and sharing our Lived Experiences. In this report we are addressing two legacy
documents: One a letter from dad at a high peak in our career, the other a
letter from our High School Most Significant Other (MSO), Wendy J
Stoffers. In Wendy’s letter she
indicates that we had and may be further developing issues. In 1999 our dad passed away. We feel in no way that he would contest our
sharing his letter. We checked a bit
online for Wendy’s digital presence and she does not appear to engage in Social
Media or Internet Networking. Actual we
entertain the notion that a Thing Greater Than Us (TGTU) is driving delivery of
this report. How is that? It is nearly impossible with all the housing
moves we have made that we still have both of these letters. We have discovered one key for closure about
a dilemma we face is to publish. As
always if anyone wishes to have a report removed and we feel we would not
suffer a loss of time we will make it go away.
Thank you for your time and consideration – AVEY (2018)

Interpretation – Collateral Harm
We find it very unlikely (14%)
that if Wendy were to read this report that she would be harmed in any shape,
way or form. To even have both letters
in the same window of opportunity is basically a miracle. Things Greater Than Us (TGTU) have come
together in our favor to have the material and the time to do this report. We are hoping to find PEACE (TGTU) about both
letters.

Table – Supporting A Right
Decision
Nowadays most of these outcomes
such as divorce are considered to be normal.
Based upon our close associates and their babes, Wendy made the right
decision to part ways from us. Some of the separations listed in the table
above did not go very well. Out of nine
(9) high school centered relationships only one (1), Kay, was a complete
success. We attribute much of Kay’s
success to Geri.

Summer of 1988
We have mentioned that the summer
of 1985 was a most wonderful affair in some of our earlier reports. In other words 1984-1986 was wonderful. 1987-1989 was set to be wonderful. Dad finally recognized our performance in
writing – Then Boom! Catastrophic loss
ensues before September 1988 ends.

Nature of Networks
Wendy’s mini-network was more
virtuous than ours. There is no way we
are going to process our multiple K-12 networks here. To the best of our ability we try to avoid “Outting” anyone. We have spoken agreement to not disclose too
much about our family and friends. In
the letter (Exhibit B) Wendy speaks of crying.
That is sad because we never wanted anyone to cry about us. When she told us that she went out on us (I
think of Halloween @ Knott’s Berry Farm) we responded by not feeling overly
positive or negative.

Wendy - The Break Up Letter
We found another letter (note)
that Wendy gave us. It was all crunched
up. We think is was the paper that help
our steady ring when Wendy delivered it airmail to us. She broke up with us in Ms. Nelson’s Honors
English Class. The affect for us was
sadness. For the remainder of the term
we stopped producing in English. We
earned a D+ grade, the worst grade of our high school career.

Wendy - Simplicity – Four (4) in
a Family
When we were very young we were
so overwhelmed with our family that we would negotiate directly with our Aunt to
spend time away with her. We mostly stayed away weekends. We noticed that Wendy’s family of four was
much less intense than our family of eight.
The few times that we were invited inside her house we observed first
the seemingly PEACE. Second was the
smell of her fathers pipe tobacco.
Wendy should know that the night she cooked Spaghetti Squash for us it
met a great deal. To offer up an
indication of how out of touch we were:
One night we pulled up in our parents Yellow Duster car. I think Wendy’s mom said: “Oh what a nice
car!” Our values had begun to get
distorted or deviated. Our records
indicate that Wendy had a nickname of “Duster”.

[DAD] - Divide University of
California @ San Diego
In dad’s letter he address our
first two years of college. He lists
the institution as UCD. That is not
correct. Our first two years of collage
after high school was at UC San Diego.
We will not discuss UCSD much because it is just too challenging at this
time to make sense of. To sum up UCSD:
We lost a bit of scholastic confidence.
In our second year we became sophomoric or overly confident
(1978). And we were as one might say
“Blinded by the Light” of awareness. We
left San Diego to find full time work and re-discover the scholar in us.
-
Wendy - Frans Position 1981 –
Pain
In or around 1981 we worked for
Medata as a Smart Medical Billing Analyst with our associate since the fourth
(4th) grade Kulle. On Friday
nights we would attend ItSaFriday! parties at Greg and Fran Stedman’s. Greg had married Fran against our advising
and they had just bought into their first house. At the parties Greg had Fran, Mike had Patti, Kurt had lost
Janine O, Kevin had Gerri, and Brad had Donna.
Fran would regularly suggest: You need to get back together with
Wendy. She had no idea how painful that
was for me to think about. You know it
really was difficult for us to move beyond Wendy. We measure moving beyond Wendy as twenty (20) some odd years with
Joan.

Allocations of Anger
We learned anger management from
our dad and older brother Kevin. From
1975-1979 our anger (madness) was overly allocated to our dad. Wendy did nothing in magnitude enough to get
angry with her. When she returned our
ring in English Class it mostly made us sad.
-
FYI - “The diathesis–stress model
is a psychological theory that attempts to explain a disorder as the result of
an interaction between a predispositional vulnerability and a stress caused by
life experiences.” We can ‘t place our
finger on it yet we very likely suffered predispositional vulnerability.

Never In The Physical Again
In 1988 we were admitted to the
UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.
This didn’t come easy for us.
When we celebrated the 1987 (10 year) High School Reunion (HSR) we had
just been denied acceptance to UCD Vet Med.
The Associate Dean of Student Services indicated that we may have issues
with our interview skills. For the
reunion we were off our “A" game and incredibly humbled. It is unlikely as Joan puts it: We will see our
classmates in the physical again.
-
Both Aftermath (Brief)
Near the end here we briefly
address some aftermaths. We met Joan
our Most Significant Other Ever (MSOE) during the period when mom was passing
away (Circa 1998). For the last three
(3) years Joan has been suffering dementia.
About two (2) years ago Joan’s daughter had to come to California and
rescue her mom. As a result Joan lives
in Colorado. We talk less and less on
the phone. Over twenty (20) years the
challenges that Joan and I faced together dwarf any issues we had with
Wendy. In other words we thought life
complex in high school. Yet: Wow living
with Joan and trying to satisfy her on a daily basis was complicated if not
near impossible. Something just came to
us. Unless we find a letter dated
between 1980-1987 from dad, the letter here indicates that it took us seven (7)
years to impress upon him that we were doing good or better. In 1986 he wanted us to take Doctor Yan's
proposal to fill the Nicholas Turkey Breeding Farms lab director role. For dad, our decision to pursue Veterinary
School did not settle with him. To end
on a nice note: God we thank you for the you for the TIME you gave us with dad,
Wendy, mom, and Joan. We well wish them
all as well as afford a modicum [SPELLED] of warmth!
